A phlebotomist is a healthcare professional who is trained to draw blood and collect other non-blood samples (sputum, hair, stool, swabs etc.) from patients for various purposes, including:

Phlebotomists typically work in laboratories, hospitals, clinics and blood donation centres. Their responsibilities include:
Verifying patient identity and explaining procedures:
Using proper techniques to collect blood and other samples safely and hygienically
Labelling and handling specimens correctly

Ensuring patient comfort and managing any reactions to blood draws
