By the end of the training session, participants should be equipped with the essential basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide effective, ethical, and empathetic HIV counselling in clinical settings and:

  • Know and understand relevant terms and facts related to HIV and AIDS issues.
  • Understand the effects of HIV and AIDS on the human body including disease progression, modes of transmission and relevant preventative measures.d
  • Discuss misconceptions and myths about HIV/AIDS.
  • Demonstrate techniques for conducting effective communication required for counselling.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide pre and post-test counselling.
