Dr Louise Murray

Immunology

Dr Louise Murray is currently a Chemical Pathologist at the Immunology Department at Ampath National Reference Laboratory in Centurion.

Louise completed her medical training at the University of Pretoria (2003). After graduating as a Chemical Pathologist (2012) she worked as a consultant in the Chemical Pathology Department at the NHLS Steve Biko hospital. During this time, she attended the Paediatric Allergy Clinic at Steve Biko hospital (Headed by Prof Robin Green), as well as the Ampath Allergy Clinic (Headed by Dr Cathy van Rooyen) and obtained her diploma in Allergology in 2013.

She has been working in the Ampath Immunology laboratory since May 2014 where she interprets laboratory tests for allergic disease, autoimmune disorders, primary immune deficiencies and infectious disease serology. She also consults at the Ampath Diagnostic Referral Clinic for Allergy and Immunodeficiency’s where she helps doctors with the diagnostic workup of complicated allergic and primary immunodeficiency patients and evaluates patients for allergy immunotherapy. She is passionate in increasing awareness of allergic disease and the correct diagnosis of these patients. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals. She is also a member of the Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI).
