Sarah Walters

Sarah Walters has a dualregistration of an HPCSA-registeredgenetic counsellor and medical scientist. She is currently the GeneticCounsellor Team Lead at Ampath Laboratories. She has over 20 years ofexperience in counselling clients in various genetic conditions from prenatalto postnatal, late- onset disorders, and cancers, among others. She is also involved in labwork analysis in sequencing and array CGH. She has a particular interest ineducating other healthcare professionals in Human Genetics and is currently completing her PhD in this topic. She is also currently thetraining co-ordinator for intern medical scientists in Genetics at the Ampath NRLGenetics laboratory. She serves as an assessor, moderator, and site assessor for the HPCSA. She has alsopresented at many local and international conferences. She has a specialinterest in cystic fibrosis, Huntington’s disease, and cytogenetics.
